It's starting to seem like everyone is an Arashi fan...remember the shiatsu expert who appeared on 2008.06.09 Shukudai-kun?
Turns out he's an Arashi fan (!). He wrote about the taping on his website:
I appeared on Arashi no shukudai-kun, scheduled to air on Monday, June 9 2008, 11:58 pm!
Ever since I wrote the book Independent practice: teach yourself foot pressure points and reflexology, from time to time I get offers to be on TV saying, "Won't you please inflict pain on comedians through foot shiatsu?"However, I get tense even when delivering a wedding speech, and on many occasions I even became incoherent. I have social anxiety, and so I've refused such offers.
I had an extremely hard time deciding on this one, because this show is actually very familiar to me --- it is one of the few shows that my daughter and I happily watch together every week without fail.
My daughter is a big Arashi fan, and among them she has fallen completely head over heels for the gorgeous MatsuJun!Of course she also likes the other members, and she never fails to record all the shows they appear on.
There's the fact that this show is a late-night one, and that it is one of the few shows that I actually get to watch. Furthermore, it also serves as an enjoyable means of communication with my daughter, who is in high school.
So I consulted with my daughter, and promptly made the decision to accept the offer.Having said all that, I got through with the taping, but with the speediness of the show, and the fact that I was so nervous as expected, I missed most of my chance to explain as planned, and so for those who came to this site, wondering, allow me to apologize and explain about the pressure points.
.
.
.
I abruptly inflicted pain without making such explanations on the show. I'm sorry, Fujiwara-san...With that, not onIy did I get to watch a show live as a viewer, but I even participated in it as well. It was a day filled with fun and regret --- ashamed of my belly fat, I wish I went on a diet beforehand, if only there was a bit more time.
After the taping, I was able to relax in a small room with Aiba-kun and Ohno-kun in such close proximity, and my sense of closeness with them grew stronger.
I ran into Nino-kun near the elevator going down, and he greeted me and shook my hand, and we rode the elevator together. It's a little something I can brag about to my daughter.
I didn't see MatsuJun or Sho-kun apart from the taping. Too bad!
I feel like I've become a bigger Arashi fan than my daughter!
☆ This is late, but from 2008.06.15 bay storm:
Ninomiya Kazunari-kun,
Happy birthday.
Do you remember your mom?
This is Kikuchi Momoko.
We worked together during this time last year on the drama Yamada Taro Monogatari, so I was able to greet you in person.
It's unfortunate that I'm not able to see you this year.
My sincere congratulations to you.
I see you're now 25 years old.
They say that as a man grows older, he becomes more refined, his character more mature, and he becomes more brilliant, so please spend your days happily and grow to be a cool man.
But of course you're already quite cool now (laughs). Sorry.
You know, I really love Nino-kun's acting.
I think the way you remember your lines and such strikes of genius.
Also, our co-stars all say that they find it so easy to act with Nino-kun.
I think this is proof of genius, so anyway, I have greater, higher expectations of your acting.
Please work hard and make us happy.
Also, there's one more thing --- it's my daughter.
She's seven years old this year, and Nino-kun is her first love, her idol.
She still says even now that she wants to marry you.
Her name is Sayuri by the way.
I gave her that name hoping she will become a pure lady like Yoshinaga Sayuri-san.
She's seven right now, but in about ten years she'll be 17.
Nino-kun will be 35 years old by then, so won't you consider her to be your wife? (laughs)
Pushing aside all other rivals.
As her mother, I would be grateful if you could make my daughter's dream come true.
And with that, I also become your real mother.
Nino-kun, this is important, so please let us know what you think of my daughter's feelings.
It's fine if you just tell us your feelings at the moment.
Please don't fail to answer (laughs).
Happy birthday.
p.s. Yoshikazu-chan's Arashi book
("BokuAra" for short) now has a publisher and is scheduled to be
released sometime in late July or early August. Congratulations~
*throws confetti*

Only a few more days 'til Leader's exhibit...I hope he doesn't mind, but Tada Shinya's
account of his premature sojourn to see it is so cute. He's the
composer of Itsu made mo, Kaze, Niji, and Still..., and he's an Arashi fan. Arashi even mentioned him becoming their fan in this
oricon style interview. He has said many times that Arashi changed
his life by picking Itsu made mo, and as a composer he'd be perfectly
happy making songs just for Arashi:
Come to think of it, my life has changed greatly
after crossing paths with the group called Arashi.
Back when I did nothing but wander about Tokyo,
riding the subway, demo tape in hand,
I never would have imagined that the day would come
when the super group known as Arashi would sing a song of mine.To Arashi and their management, who lent their ear
to a song by an unknown singer-songwriter such as me,
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You can listen to his music here, and watch him perform live here (← I really like this song)
From rain-soaked Shibuya, I walked up the slope to the direction of Harajuku.
To go to Omotesando.
Not that I was scrimping on train fare.
Somehow I just felt like walking in that winter town.
I'm saying it again, but I wasn't in any way scrimping on train fare (laughs)Although it wasn't that great a distance,
that day was quite cold.
For the first time I felt so sorry
for the guys and girls handing out Hot Pepper in the streets.Even so, I still headed there (laughs)
Yes. To Omotesando Hills. Why, you ask!?
Speaking of Omotesando Hills...
Isn't it where they're holding the exhibit of Arashi's Ohno-san!!
But...it's so strange...
Arriving at Omotesando Hills...
There's absolutely no feeling of excitement...
Strange. This is strange.
I mean, it wouldn't be strange at all if the whole of Harajuku
is suffused with Ohno-san's color.Why.
After wandering about Omotesando Hills for a while,
I went over to the reception area, feeling weary,
and asked with what was probably quite a disappointed expression:
"Uhm, just where exactly are they holding the exhibit of Arashi's Ohno-san?"
The receptionist then replied:
"Thank you.
That's next month, February""Huh!?"
The Yajiuma morning news I saw while half asleep,
after completing a song in an all-nighter, after continuing days of songwriting.
The news about the exhibit featured there.
The days (and even those I wasn't too sure about...)
and the words 'Omotesando Hills' were the only things that registered (laughs)
I was the very picture of overeagerness. The receptionist's expression was like, "Just how much does this guy like Arashi?"
but even so, she kindly corrected me, saying it's a month away.
I really gave her a lot of trouble,
and looking back at it now I feel really bad about it (laughs)So there you have it, I completely jumped the gun,
but I'm sure there were others like me, right!?
(Since I myself screwed up)
If there's someone who did the same thing as me,
please come forward!! (laughs)Tada Shinya

His own personal analysis of Arashi's appeal
Can't wait 'til spring~
This was their first time to do an audio commentary, except for Sho-kun who got to do one with Hachikuro. Some cute parts I remember:
Aiba-chan and Kashii Yu are together by the river:
Nino: Did you talk with each other, Aiba-san?
Aiba-chan: We did.
Nino: What did you talk about?
Aiba-chan: Kashii-chan said she likes motorcycles. I told her I like them too!
Nino: But you don't.
Aiba-chan: ...Yes.
*snickers*
Aiba-chan: It was to keep our conversation going! I tried my best!
MatsuJun: Kashii-chan will be shocked to hear this!
The five of them are drinking together:
Inudou: Do you really get like this when you're drunk, Aiba-kun?
*laughs*
Sho-kun: More or less.
Aiba-chan: Not like that! But yeah, I do cry when I get drunk.
Inudou: Really?
Nino: He gets all emotional by himself.
MatsuJun: He'll immediately start saying, "Ah, we're such lucky guys..."
Aiba-chan: "I'm glad I'm in Arashi..." I cry like that.
Inudou: So you cry by yourself.
Aiba-chan: Yes...Inudou-san, let's have a drink together sometime.
*laughs*
Nino is drawing his manga with the scarecrow:
Sho-kun: That manga is one of the special features of the DVD box, right?
Inudou: You sure know a lot.
Sho-kun: I'm an Arashi fanatic.
Leader is having his breakdown:
Inudou: Is it any different from when you're working with other actors?
MatsuJun: Not when we're actually acting, but it's clearly different when we're like in our dressing room.
Nino: I can say that when the five of us work together, we don't get to make any new friends.
*laughs*
Sho-kun: Because we get by with the five of us.
End credits:
Inudou: This movie was made possible because I got to know you guys. Thank you very much.
Other interesting bits:
- The stray dog actually had a leash, and they had to erase it through CG.
- The scene where Leader first meets his crush was shot at Shakujii Park. Sho-kun says that he was the only one filming on that day, and after that they went to Music Station to perform Kitto daijoubu. Director Inudou decided to cast the girl who plays the crush when he saw her in a TV spot for Remioromen's song Konayuki.
- It took a while for director Inudou to notice that Nino is left-handed. He thought, "This is bad! Wouldn't it be weird that a guy who eats with his left hand draws manga with his right?" He was seriously worried about it, but eventually rationalized it when others assured him, "There are really people like that." Nino explains that his family owns a factory; he was told that he would inherit the place, and so was made to learn to write with his right hand (easier to draw plans/diagrams equipment-wise).
- The mouse is real, not CG.
- The scene where Leader and Aiba-chan see off Nino at Shinjuku Station was shot at Hibiya Park. They had a hard time shooting it because Sambomaster was having a concert next door at the Open-Air Concert Hall, so lots of modern-dressed people were passing by.
- The weird kimono girl (also MatsuJun's girlfriend in Imakiyo) was actually wearing contact lenses. Director Inudou didn't notice until he watched the dailies, and they had to erase it through CG.
- The scene where MatsuJun goes to return the magazines to Kashii Yu was not originally in the script. Director Inudou decided to include it so that the surprising turn of events in the end would be more convincing.
- Leader's letter to Nino at the end is in his own handwriting.
This was my first time to listen to an audio commentary from
start to end, for another two hours (only for Arashi would I do this
lol).
p.s. charurei, your new tagline reminded me of something Mr. Nakamura (the pr0n writer/director fanman) wrote, which might convince you to change the = to a >
XD: he got mail from a former pr0n actress, who is known to be a very
troubled person who cuts/slashes herself all over...but! She has become
an Arashi fan through YamaTaro: "...listening to Happiness every week
cheered me up so much, and I've started listening a bit to their other
songs...it's not just their looks; everything about them is cool! It
really is so unexpected of me. I've lost, in a good way, to Arashi."
Sasuga Arashi. He's so surprised because she sounded like a normal, happy girl, and wonders if it is the Arashi effect (me: absolutely --- as dunadan puts it, it's Arashiawase).
Btw Mr. Nakamura and Yoshikazu-chan (the writer fanman) have finally bonded together (took them long enough lol) and are now Arashi blog buddies (like us!).
Have you heard of him? I'm reading his blog, and he may just be the biggest Arashi fanman (he's 52) yet. Among other things, he's a writer --- he wrote the novel on which the anime Perfect Blue is based on, and right now he's in talks to do a collection of essays on, you guessed it, Arashi. I think he's this guy:
He waxes poetic about Arashi all the time. Some bits from his blog (pardon the rough trans):
An
essay collection about Arashi! At this point I only have a vague idea
of how it's going to turn out, but my desire to write about Arashi
burns intensely inside of me, like magma. (I swear I'm not making this up)

I
was at my friend J-kun's apartment. He's got a high-vision projector in
his room, and I've always wanted to watch the con DVD there. Mine is
500k pixels, but J-kun's is 2 million pixels! So clear, so distinct!
The loveliness of Nino's skin, MatsuJun's eyes that suck you right in,
Aiba-chan's silky(?) hair, the sweat that glistens on Sho-kun's skin,
Captain's firm face...they all looked so real. (I'm not making this up either)
* * * * *
I
got a call from Kuwana Masahiro-san, whom I haven't heard from in quite
a while. He wants to do a book together with me, so we made plans to
meet on Monday. From what I hear, it seems that Kuwana-san is close
with an Arashi member. Maybe I should try and ask him to get summer con
tickets for me...no no, it would probably be a bother to him. I'm going
to have to restrain myself. (He lost the ticket battle too)

Indeed, it's amazing. Arashi is popular! Today I was out on
a get-together with my fans, and men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s
confessed, "The truth is, I'm an Arashi fan." "I watched ~ no Arashi,
and their concerts are also amazing, aren't they." One even confessed
to having a part-time job doing Johnny's concert set construction! (More and more guys are coming out)
* * * * *
I think it was exactly about a year ago when I got hooked on
Arashi by chance, and there was a time when I couldn't even talk about
it with anyone. But since I like what I like, a year ago, when I had
the opportunity to talk with a lady who was a fan of my radio show, I
took the plunge and brought up Arashi. It turned out that she was also
an Arashi fan, and from there I talked to my heart's content. I was
certain I would be told, "Takeuchi-san, that's so not like you," but
she said, "That's amazing! That's interesting!" Since then, I began to
talk about just how fascinating Arashi is. (Please don't stop!)
He is now my favorite Arashi-loving famous person (sorry Ogu-san). More gushing here: Yoshikazu-chan no Bochibochi Blog
p.s.
Was looking at the track list for Time, and Aiba-chan's solo Friendship
is written and arranged by an "Abe Yuya"! Could it be his actual
friend, the vocalist of Suther Rand?
Aiba-chan did the remix of ONLY LOVE for his radio show with him and
another friend. If it's really him, it makes the song title more
meaningful. Can't wait to hear it! (Was hopeful about the "Ohno
Kazunari" too, but he turns out to be a real person. Guess LIFE won't
turn out to be some silly Ohmiya SK song lol.)
